OUR INAUGURAL PROJECT

A huge, obvious mineral system that is poorly described.

  • Greenfield recognised the key facets of a mineral system.

  • Strong conviction backed by strong actions, Greenfields licenced nearly 13,000km2!

  • Rapid project evolution, resulting in a paradigm shift from copper to gold.

PROJECT SUMMARY

In 2017, Greenfields began by recognising that Frontier represents the intersection of a primary fault system, the Jan Mayen Fault Zone, and the Caledonian mountain range - with a mantle plume thrown in.

Deep cracks in Earth, heat, and signs of wide-scale fluid flow are all favourable. While we initiated the project based on the sediment-hosted copper potential, over the subsequent five years, Greenfields recognised that the primary potential of the project is defined by the intrusion of granites that are associated with gold, antimony and tungsten (and maybe some tin-bearing intrusions). The copper potential is still there, as there is a significant amount of diagenetic copper (‘pre-endowment’) available for remobilisation into standalone deposits, such as Holmesø. However, Greenfields now recognises that Frontier represents an underappreciated gold province. This evolution resulted in a 10:1 reduction in the licence holding to focus on the best-understood gold prospect, Noa, although other less advanced potential exists in the region.

Two seasons, a pandemic, and a model-driven mindset

Greenfield identified Frontiers’ potential in 2016, licenced it in 2017 and began field operations in 2018. After the initial reconnaissance campaign, a 1-month, 18-person field program was conducted in 2019. No field work was performed in 2020 and 2021 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus epidemic. In 2022, the joint-venture partner relinquished the licences that were in good standing to Greenfields in 2023, which then carried on fieldwork on the basis of it being a highly prospective mineral system, the emphasis of which is gold rather than copper. The resulting evolved project is known as ‘Eleonore North’.
